The Next 5 years: Lisa’s Predictions for the Event Industry
How will the next 5 years look different than the last 5?
We've witnessed and been a part of industry evolution. Some of this movement was delayed by the history-making global pandemic, and others were propelled forward. All were, however, tremendously important to building the industry we know today.
In honour of our fifth anniversary as a company, here are our predictions on key elements that will dramatically impact the events economy as we know within the next 5 years.
1 | Continued growth of the event industry
The event industry will continue to grow world wide - Allied Market Research says the event industry Compound Annual Growth Rate from 2023 to 2032 will be 6.4%
2 | Brand impressions will solidify sooner
For better or worse, attendees will solidify their impression of your brand within the first 10 seconds of any experience.
3 | Event tech will dramatically simplify
Event tech will get a lot more user friendly. It may tie into existing smart phone features and require minimal brain power to use
4 | Event services will consolidate
Consolidation of more event services will attempt to be provided by venues or in-house partners
5 | Required year-round engagement of event attendees
There is a lot of competition for the attention of attendees. Year-round engagement of delegates will become common and ultimately required to sustain attendance annually
6 | Gen Z’ers will be at the helm
Gen Z'ers will be leaders and managers, meaning the next gen of "event bosses" will be designing and planning with their unique mindset and digital aptitude leading the way
7 | More AR integration
Augmented Reality will weave into events more consistently and will become more cost effective and common, not a Flash in the Pan
